In English

LiteScribe transcribes your Portuguese recordings and translates them into clear English in one click. Both Brazilian and European Portuguese are handled, and you keep both versions side by side. Start free, no credit card required.

Two routes to a translated transcript

These pages describe the cloud route, which is the quickest to start and does upload your file. There is a second one for material that has to stay put: on Windows, macOS and Linux the desktop app supports bot-free meeting capture from the desktop app and translates the result there too, on your own CPU or GPU rather than on a server. See the full set of privacy and offline guides for the full picture.

Why translate Portuguese to English with LiteScribe

Both variants

Brazilian and European Portuguese sound different; both are transcribed accurately before translation to English.

Nasal vowels captured

Nasal vowels and the cedilla are transcribed correctly so meaning is not lost before the English translation.

Speaker labels intact

Diarization on the Portuguese audio means the English translation preserves who said what.

Free to start

120 minutes monthly on the free plan, no credit card, enough for most calls and interviews.

Brazilian and European Portuguese diverge noticeably: European Portuguese reduces unstressed vowels heavily so words sound clipped, while Brazilian Portuguese is more open and vowel-rich. Nasal vowels (the ao ending, the til over a and o) and the cedilla (the c with a cedilla) are meaning-bearing and must be preserved for the transcript to be correct in either variant.

English transcription has to handle a wide spread of accents (American, British, Irish, Indian, Australian) and heavy use of contractions, filler words, and code-switching. Homophones such as "their", "there", and "they're" are resolved from context, and proper nouns and acronyms are a common source of errors that a quick edit pass fixes.

A worked example

Portuguese (source)

Obrigado por participar; vamos rever os numeros do trimestre antes de abrir para perguntas.

English (translation)

Thank you for taking part; we are going to review the quarterly numbers before opening for questions.

The Portuguese "vamos rever" maps to "we are going to review", and the friendly opening "Obrigado por participar" becomes "Thank you for taking part".
