If the recording is too sensitive to upload

Some material cannot be sent anywhere, whatever the tool promises, and a translation job is no exception. For a saved recording the LiteScribe desktop app offers on-device transcription, and it can produce the translated version on your own hardware as well, so the audio never leaves the machine. See the Local Mode feature page for the models it downloads once and then runs locally.

Why translate Italian to French with LiteScribe

Two close Romance languages

Italian and French share Romance roots, so the translation reads naturally between them.

Gemination to clean French

Italian double consonants are captured on the transcript, and the French translation keeps accents correct.

Speaker labels carry over

Diarization on the Italian audio means the French translation preserves who said what.

Free to start

120 minutes every month on the free plan covers most calls and short videos.

What makes Italian and French distinct

Italian

Italiano

Family
Romance
Script
Latin (LTR)
Speakers
~65 million native speakers
Where
Italy, San Marino, Vatican City, and parts of Switzerland (Ticino)

Italian has crisp, fully-pronounced vowels and meaning-bearing double consonants ("capello" hair versus "cappello" hat), so gemination has to be captured accurately. Speech is often fast with overlapping turns, regional accents range from Milan to Naples to Sicily, and the apostrophe in elisions ("l'amico", "un'idea") must be kept for the text to read naturally.

French

Francais

Family
Romance
Script
Latin (LTR)
Speakers
~310 million across five continents
Where
France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada (Quebec), and large parts of West and Central Africa

French is full of liaison and elision: final consonants link into the next word ("les amis" sounds like "lezami") and vowels contract ("je ai" becomes "j'ai"), so word boundaries are acoustically blurred. Nasal vowels and silent endings mean the model leans heavily on context, and accented characters (e, e, a, c) must be preserved for the text to read correctly.

Grazie per la partecipazione; rivediamo i numeri del trimestre prima di passare alle domande.

French (translation)

Merci de votre participation; nous revoyons les chiffres du trimestre avant de passer aux questions.

The Italian "passare alle domande" maps almost directly to the French "passer aux questions", since both languages structure the closing the same way.
