Transcription and AI That Run Entirely on Your Machine

Local Mode runs transcription and AI entirely on your own machine using the on-device LiteScribe Local Transcription Engine and Local LLM Models. No audio is uploaded and no internet is required, so your recording never leaves your machine. The finished transcript syncs to your own LiteScribe account unless you turn that off in Settings, Privacy. It is available in the desktop app on Windows, macOS, and Linux for sensitive and offline work.

What is Local Mode?

Local Mode runs transcription and AI enhancement entirely on your own computer. The LiteScribe Local Transcription Engine turns your audio into text on-device, and the LiteScribe Local LLM Models generate summaries, action items, and enhanced notes on-device. Your audio never leaves your machine, and nothing is sent to any third-party AI service. The transcript syncs to your own LiteScribe account so you can reach it from anywhere, or stays on the device with the audio the moment you mark local transcripts private.

  • On-device transcription with the LiteScribe Local Transcription Engine
  • On-device AI with the LiteScribe Local LLM Models, Small to X-Large
  • Your audio is never uploaded, and the transcript stays local too if you mark it private
  • No internet connection required to transcribe or enhance
  • Available on Pro and Business plans, desktop only

GPU-Accelerated and Fast

Local Mode uses your hardware to stay fast. It accelerates on the GPU when one is available and falls back to the CPU when it is not, so you get responsive transcription and AI without sending a single byte to the cloud.

  • GPU acceleration via CUDA on NVIDIA hardware
  • GPU acceleration via Vulkan on AMD and Intel hardware
  • GPU acceleration via Metal on Apple Silicon
  • Automatic CPU fallback when no compatible GPU is present
  • Pick a model size from Small to X-Large to match your hardware

Private by Design

For confidential meetings, regulated industries, and restricted-network sites, Local Mode keeps the audio and the AI step in your control. Because processing happens on-device, your recordings are never exposed to a third-party transcription or AI provider.

  • Ideal for legal, healthcare, finance, and government workflows
  • Works in restricted-network environments, with no internet needed to record or transcribe
  • No third-party AI provider ever sees your audio or notes
  • You choose exactly which model runs and where it runs
  • Switch between Local Mode and cloud processing per recording
